Interactive Reading Walls for PK-2

What is a Reading Wall?

Developing Young Minds with Hands-On Activities

The reading wall is a wall designated in the classroom filled with grade level reading skills.  These skills primarily make up the 5 components of reading to help build foundational reading skills.  The teacher uses a 3-R approach while teaching each skill:  Routine, Rigor, and Readiness.  It is a daily routine, with increasing rigor to readiness or mastery.  As the teacher teaches from the reading wall, the students follow along with their very own reading wall-in-a-bag.  Gradually the responsibility is released to the student and the teacher becomes the facilitator.  Reading Wall skills include:  letter recognition, phonemic awareness, phonics, blending/decoding words, short/long vowel sounds, writing, vocabulary, and much more!!!

Our Original Reading Wall

Kiney Learners has updated the reading wall and added various skills to the reading wall!  The updated reading wall will help teachers rigorously teach the 5 components of reading to mastery!
